आरटीआइ कार्यकर्ताओं के उत्पीड़न के विरोध में आरटीआइ काउंसिल आफ उत्तर प्रदेश ने शहीद स्मारक पर सोमवार को धरना दिया। इस मौके पर काउंसिल के मंडल मार्गदर्शक डॉ. नीरज कुमार ने आरोप लगाया कि सूचना मांगने पर आरटीआइ कार्यकर्ताओं को धमकाया जा रहा है। पुलिस भी इनका उत्पीड़न कर रही है। धरने में, 

इजहार अंसारी, शगुफ्ता अंसारी सहित तमाम लोग मौजूद थे।

Dharna Against- Exploitation & Harassment of RTI Activist

In the space of less than a decade, the burgeoning movement for the Right to Information in India has significantly sought to expand democratic space, and empower the ordinary citizen to exercise far greater control over the corrupt and arbitrary exercise of state power.
The right to information is implicit in the Constitution of India, even so the dominant culture of the executive has been one of secrecy and resolute denial of access of information to the citizen.
Citizens groups have long battled for the exercise of these rights in courts. The movement for the right to information received a fresh impetus from a courageous and powerful grassroots struggle of the rural poor for the right to information, to combat rampant corruption in famine relief works. This struggle was led by

About This Council

सूचना का अधिकार अधिनियम के ५ वर्ष  पूरे होने पर सरकारी तंत्र कि इस पर उदासीनता एवं सूचना आयोग कि निष्क्रियता और निरंकुशता के कारण देश भर में वर्ष २००९-१० में १० साथियो के शहीद होने पर अलग अलग शहरों में कार्यरत सूचना के सिपाहियों में एक निराशा सी आने लगी थी जिसकी एक वजह यह भी रही कि पूरे देश में हज़ारो के संख्या में लोग छोटे छोटे समूह बनाकर बड़े बड़े भ्रष्टाचारो के कारनामे उजागर करने में लगे होने के पश्चात भी कोई संगठित तंत्र अभी तक नहीं खडा कर सके  

इन सभी से व्यथित होकर उत्तर प्रदेश के कुछ कार्यकर्ताओं ने एक पहल करते हुवे दिनांक ३० एवं ३१ अक्टोबर २०१०  में विभिन्न जिलो से अलीगढ शहर में एकत्रित होकर प्रांत में व्याप्त सूचना अधिकार एवं उससे सम्बंधित अनियमितता, आयोग का सरकारी तंत्र के बचाव में कानून विरोधी निर्णय प्रदान करना आदि  पर गहन चिंतन मंथन के पश्चात सर्वसम्मति से निर्णय लेते हुवे समस्त प्रांत के सूचना कार्यकर्ताओं के विभिन्न संगठनो को एक सूत्र में पिरोने हेतु एक महासंघ RTI COUNCIL OF U.P. के गठन कि घोषणा कि जो कि प्रथम चरण में जिलास्तर के सभी संगठनो को इससे जोडने का  कार्य करेगी जिससे सभी संगठनो में बेहतर तालमेल कायम हो सके इसके कार्य को सुचारू रूप से चलाने हेतु  १५ सदस्यों की एक गवर्निंग बोडी के गठन के साथ साथ संयोजक के तौर पर श्री अनिल जानी, मेरठ एवं श्री अखिलेश सक्सेना , लखनऊ कि नियुक्ति करते हुवे आने वाले ४५ दिनों में एक बैठक कर अपनी कार्य वृत्ति का ब्यौरा प्रस्तुत करेंगे
